Brasile-Cuba 3-1 (25-22; 25-14; 25-22)
 
Il Brasile vince il suo terzo titolo consecutivo (2002 Buenos Aires, 2006 Tokio, 2010 Roma) e conquista l’oro dei Campionati del Mondo di Pallavolo Maschile Italia 2010. La squadra di “Bernardinho” (in foto premiata dal presidente FIVB WEI - photo Mezzelani) battendo Cuba in finale entra nella storia di questo sport dove solo la “Nazionale del Secolo” dell’Italia era riuscita ad arrivare (tre titoli del mondo consecutivi). Prova super in tutti i fondamentali per il Brasile ha sconfitto per 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-22) Cuba, che non ha ripetuto la bella prova offerta nella prima fase, quando risultò vincitrice per 3-2. Una gara a senso unico da parte dei verdeoro che hanno incontrato qualche difficoltà solamente nella prima frazione. Il resto è stato dominio assoluto.

BRAZIL WORLD CHAMPION – Brazil win their third championship in a row (2002 Buenos Aires, 2006 Tokyo, 2010 Rome) and claims gold of the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championships Italia 2010. Bernardinho’s team, with beating Cuba in the final match, enters in the history of this sport, where only the “Century Squad” of Italy had previously done the same (three titles in a row). Super performance by every Brazilian player who won 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-22) over Cuba, which could not offer the same performance of the first round, when they won the same match (3-2). A one-way match for the Brazilians, who faced some  difficulties only at the beginning of the third set.

Rodrigao (Brasile): “Sono felicissimo di aver vinto la terza medaglia d’oro in un Mondiale. Abbiamo giocato una grande finale, non pernettendo a Cuba di prendere il suo ritmo. Un risultato importantissimo per me e per tutto il Brasile. Il nostro prossimo obiettivo è l’Olimpiade di Londra”.
 
Dante (Brasile): “Questo è il mio terzo titolo mondiale e rappresenta una gioia grandissima. Siamo una squadra capace di uscire anche dalle sitiuazioni più difficili ed è questo uno dei segretri delle nostre vittorie”.
 
Bernardinho (head coach Brasile): “Abbiamo comandato la gara dall’inizio imprimendo il nostro ritmo. Questo è un gruppo fantastico, cerca sempre di migliorarsi lavorando duramente in palestra. Con questa vittoria abbiamo eguagliato i tre titoli iridati dell’Italia che negli anni passati è stato il nostro modello”.  
 
Simon (Cuba): “E’ un vero peccato, non siamo riusciti a fare quello che avremmo voluto. Il Brasile è stato più forte, d’altronde loro sono una grande squadra, ma questa non è cero una novità”.
 
Leal (Cuba): “Siamo una squadra giovane, abbiamo quindi pagato l’emozione di giocare una finale così importante. Il Brasile è una grandissima formazione che ha già disputato molte volte partite così difficili”.  
 
Leon (Cuba): “E’ un argento arrivato dopo il grande lavoro svolto da tutta la squadra durante tutto l’anno. Per raggiungere i livelli dei brasialiani dovremo migliorare sia a muro sia in ricezione”.
 


Rodrigao (Brasile): “I am ecstatic to have won this third gold medal in a World Championship. We played an exciting final without ever allowing Cuba to gain momentum. This is a great result for me and all of Brazil, but now our next goal is the Olympics in London”.
 
Dante (Brasile): “This is my third title, and it is an incredible joy for me once again. Our team is capable of resolving difficult situations and this is probably one of the secrets of our success”.
 
Bernardinho (Head coach Brasile): “We took command of the match from the beginning by imposing our rhythm . This is an incredible group, capable of bettering itself with hard work and practice. With this victory we are now tied with Italy that has also collected three world titles, and who in the past have been our role model”.

Orlando Samuel Coach of Cuba: “The team was tired and we didn’t recover from last night. We have played four matches of five sets and that’s a lot. But I am very happy and proud of my team. We went over all of our expectations and goals”.
Robertlandy Simon, Captain of Cuba: “Today’s match was our worst in the tournament. We also had a bad game against Serbia in the early rounds but not like today. We couldn’t do anything. We tried to serve harder and that didn’t work. Brazil played great. The silver medal means a lot for us and in the future we can do better”.
Wilfredo Leon, Player of Cuba: “Brazilian rhythm was much better than the first time we faced them and that’s normal, because it was during the first part of the event and teams get going after playing some matches. I think is a big credit to our favor to finish second in this tournament held every four years as we also face the situation of not playing enough international matches”.
