Grande successo di pubblico per la prima fase del Mondiale di Pallavolo Maschile che in tre giorni ha raccolto oltre 165mila spettatori sugli spalti dei sei palazzetti iridati da cui è partita l’avventura dei Campionati del Mondo.
Spettacolo sulle tribune, con Milano che ha fatto registrare il tutto esaurito coinciso con l’esordio azzurro. Palazzetto stracolmo anche a Trieste, con il PalaTrieste che in due giorni ha battuto tutti i record di presenze toccando prima i 6.500 spettatori e, in occasione di Serbia-Polonia che ha chiuso il girone triestino, oltre 6.600 appassionati. Folla a Verona, dove in tre giorni di gara l’affluenza è stata sempre ai massimi livelli, e Torino, come anche a Reggio Calabria e Modena.
Spettacolo sul campo, dove in questa prima fase si è visto tutto il valore delle “grandi” di questo Mondiale che non hanno deluso. Avanzano Brasile, Italia, Serbia, Cuba, Russia e Bulgaria, quelle che secondo i pronostici sono tra le accreditate per la vittoria finale. E vanno avanti anche i campioni d’Europa in carica della Polonia e quelli olimpici degli Stati Uniti, le possibili sorprese di questa rassegna iridata. E poi le outsider come il Giappone, Porto Rico, Germania, Spagna, Messico, Francia, Argentina, Repubblica Ceca.
E poi la storia, quella scritta dal Camerun ed Egitto, due africane che per la prima volta passano il primo turno di un Mondiale per un’impresa che rimarrà negli annali di questo sport e di un Mondiale che sta già regalando grandi emozioni.
Sono stati tre giorni esaltanti, ed ora ci si prepara alla seconda fase che partirà il 30 settembre e si chiuderà il 2 ottobre. Dicono “ciao” al Mondiale Torino, Reggio Calabria, Trieste e Verona, per tre giorni Capitali del volley. Si preparano ad ospitare la carovana Mondiale Ancona e Catania, che insieme a Milano saranno le sedi del prossimo round.

Volleyball World Championship: great attendance, show in all the venues

Great success on the stands for the first round of the Men’s World Championship that, in three days, saw around 165,000 people sitting in the six venues.
Sold out in Milan, where the hosting team made its debut.
Overwhelmed stands in Trieste, too, where the all-time record has been beaten twice, first with 6,500 and the following day 6,600 for Serbia-Poland.
Crowd in Verona, too, where in all three days the capacity has always reached its maximum, as well as in Turin, Reggio Calabria and Modena.
Great show on the courts, where the big ones haven’t let the many fans down.
Italy, Brazil, Serbia, Cuba, Russia and Bulgaria: all of them – forecasted as possible winners – go on without problems. Together with European champions of Poland and olympic gold winners (USA), possible surprises.
Outsiders like Japan, Puerto Rico, Germany, Spain, Mexico, France, Argentina and Czech Republic will try to confirm the good things shown iin these days.
And then one of the most significant pages in volleyball history, written by Cameroon and Egypt: for the first time Africa has got two teams in the second round.
It’s been three thrilling days, and more have to come starting next Friday (sept.30) to Oct. 2 (Second Round).
Farewell to Turin, Reggio Calabria, Trieste and Verona, capitals of volleyball for a long weekend.
And now Ancona and Catania, together with Milan, are ready for the second chapter of this thrilling story.
